Questions & Answers

Q
How do I choose between Singlemode (SM) and Multimode (MM) fiber?
A
Singlemode fiber is best for long-distance, high-bandwidth applications (such as telecommunications or data center backbone connections), while Multimode fiber is suitable for shorter distances within buildings or campuses, providing cost-effective, high-speed connectivity. Although, singlemode has gained popularity for shorter runs since the technology such as SFPs and switches has improved and the cost of the equipment has decreased in recent years.
Q
What conduit size is recommended if conduit is used?
A
A minimum 3” conduit with sweeping bends is recommended to accommodate the fiber cable’s breakout and ensure smooth pulling during installation.
Q
Do these assemblies require water-blocking materials?
A
Yes. They include water-blocking tape and a gel-free design to prevent moisture intrusion and maintain fiber performance in harsh underground conditions.
Q
What happens if I need support for my assembly?
A
All assemblies are fully tested come with detailed test reports. Our team can assist with troubleshooting if any issues arise after installation.
Q
How does the armored design protect against rodents?
A
The corrugated steel armor creates a strong physical barrier that prevents rodent chewing and other potential physical damage.
