Questions & Answers

Q
What makes these cables “armored”?
A
They include corrugated steel armor that provides crush resistance and rodent protection, ensuring the fibers remain safe even in challenging conditions.
Q
What performance characteristics can be expected?
A
They provide low insertion loss and high return loss, supporting high-speed data transmission in demanding network environments.
Q
Which connectors are used on these assemblies?
A
They feature genuine US Conec® MTP® connectors, ensuring high-density connectivity with low insertion loss and precise optical alignment.
Q
Which fiber type is used in these assemblies?
A
They are built with Corning Altos® fiber, providing excellent performance, low attenuation, and high reliability for outdoor networking.
Q
Does this cable require grounding at each end? If so, does it come with a ground lead attached to the steel armor as part of the pre-made assembly?
A
Bonding and grounding requirements depend on the specific installation, but standard practice is to bond and ground the metal armor whenever the cable is used outdoors, buried, or enters a building. This assembly does not include a factory-installed ground lead. For grounding, the installer would expose a small section of the armor at an appropriate location, attach an approved bonding/ground clamp, and connect the grounding conductor in accordance with local codes and site standards.
